Small Engine Cold Test
- Description
Description
This machine was designed to perform end of line cold testing on small 1 and 2 cylinder engines across several product platforms. Cold testing is used to verify proper engine assembly without combustion. Testing is performed with the spark plugs installed and crankcase filled with oil. In a prior step, before filling with oil, the machine leak checks the case to verify that all seals and o-rings were installed and working properly. The machine automatically engages the engine, clamps it and tests for initial torque to turn force. Once verified that the engine rotates within specification, the speed is ramped up and another torque reading is measured. During this test, the torque is also monitored for “bumps” to indicate the compression resistance and in multi cylinder engines, verifies that all cylinders are within specification.
